How to get to the Castle?

We will arrange shuttle transportation to and from the venue. Shuttles will pick you up directly from your accommodation in Bled and return you after the wedding.

Although the castle is walking distance from Bled town centre, we don’t recommend walking—it’s located on a steep cliff and the path can be demanding.

Shuttle pick-up times will be shared with you closer to the date. Return shuttles will run from 00:30 to 02:30 (possibly later if the party goes on!).

There is a parking lot at the castle, but please let us know in advance if you plan to drive. Parking is €3/hour, payable at the machine or via EasyPark.

Accommodation

The castle itself does not offer accommodation, but there are numerous hotels, apartments, and villas available around the lake. Bled is one of Slovenia's top attractions, so we recommend staying here for at least one day before the wedding to enjoy what it has to offer.

Below, you'll find two tailored options for booking accommodations specifically for the wedding, both offering small discounts. Hotel Astoria offers the most reasonable price of all the hotels and only 15 rooms are available through the below link (only available until mid-April). Additionally, we've included a general option via Booking.com for more flexibility.

Getting to Slovenia

Slovenia's two main attractions are the capital, Ljubljana, and the picturesque Bled lake. Your travel plans will depend on whether you wish to head straight to Bled or explore Ljubljana and other locations.
For convenience, we recommend flying to Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (main Slovenian airport), which is just 30 minutes away from both Bled and Ljubljana. From there, you can arrange transportation to either destination.
Other nearby airports include Trieste, Italy (1h 30min), Zagreb, Croatia (1h 30min), and Klagenfurt, Austria (1h 30min).
Once in Slovenia, we recommend renting a car as its the most convenient way to explore the country. However, if you plan to stay exclusively in Bled, getting around without a car is easier. A bus service connects the airport to Lake Bled in about 45 minutes, and a taxi ride takes less than 30 minutes, depending on traffic. We suggest booking a taxi in advance (one option is info@bledtours.si. If you state its for “Wedding Meltem & Dominik” it should cost €65 per ride, for up to 3 people. There might be cheaper options out there).
If you're planning a customized trip, feel free to contact us for more information.

Gifts

We know it’s a long trip for some of you, and having you with us to celebrate means the most to us. That alone is more than enough! But if you’d like to give a little something, we’d appreciate contributions towards a trip we’re planning after the wedding (are we still allowed to call it a honeymoon? 😄). Since we’ll be traveling back to the UK, carrying gifts can be tricky, so we kindly ask for no physical items.
